Dear Parents, Carers and Athletes,
It has been quite a year for S-Factor Academy, 2018 has seen some outstanding athletic and volunteer achievements, we’ve been blessed with new volunteers and the club has raised its profile and firmly placed itself on the map of England Athletics.
Last month we crowned KIMANI SMART our MVP of the year at our Annual Awards Evening for setting some great club records and achieving a bronze medal at The Kent County Championships in his first senior race!
Over the summer, COACH MENSAH ELLIOT, who is himself a world-class competitive athlete who represents Great Britain in the Masters Division, competed in the World Masters Athletics Track & Field Championships in Malaga, finishing 6th in the 100m finals and 2nd in the 110mH. Mensah also brought home the gold medal in the 4x 100m relay as part of Team GB alongside Jason Carty, Dominic Bradley and TJ Ossai.
Coach Mensah proudly flew the flag for S-Factor Academy whilst raising awareness of Masters Athletics.
In October, CLUB FOUNDER LISA MILLER won runner up VOLUNTEER OF THE YEAR at the England Athletics Regional Volunteer Awards for her volunteer services to the local community for over a decade – putting S-Factor on the map and raising our profile. At the same Awards Evening COACH ADAM THOMAS won the INCLUSION AWARD for his role in transforming our inclusive section to the amazing group that it is today. He then went on to win the award in the same category in the ENGLAND ATHLETICS NATIONAL VOLUNTEER AWARDS later that month.
Finally, we have been blessed with new additions to the S-Factor family; COACH VICTOR (Juniors), COACH MATT (Intermediate), new EVENTS COORDINATOR (DIANA PRINCE) and TREASURER (GUGLIELMO VOLPE) … and last but not least our NEW REGISTRATION AND ADMIN TEAM – LORNA GRIFFITHS, SYLVIE SEALES and NOEILLA MUSE.
We are nothing without the volunteers who donate of their time and efforts week in week out, and to be sustainable we need new hands on deck to drive the club forward as we head into 2019! Please spread the word as we need all the support that we can get!
A BIG THANK YOU to everyone who has supported the club over the past 12 months – and well done to all our athletes, please continue to do your best and strive to be the greatest.
Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
