S-Factor Academy is proud to announce that on Saturday 30th December 2017, our founder, Lisa Miller, received the Ukombozii Award for Community Service, at the Leyton Kwanzaa for founding, nurturing, sustaining and developing S-Factor Academy.

Lisa, a former Team GB athlete has an extensive and prestigious athletics legacy, having represented Great Britain in the 400m event. After her career as an athlete, Lisa focused her skills on athletics management at England Athletics, she also coached young athletes, providing outreach programmes in schools. Lisa looked at the various schemes that were being offered to the young people of Lewisham and London for all-inclusive athletics clubs (including junior and disabled athletes) and saw a gap that needed to be filled.

As a result, in 2010 Lisa set up S-Factor Academy – and since its inception we have strived to deliver high quality sports coaching to young people around London.  Excellent working relationships have been fostered with schools, sports clubs, school sports partnerships, local authority’s and National Governing Bodies. As an Academy we subscribe to the notion that sports helps develop our youth not just physically but also mentally and builds on their wider social and academic skills. We offer wider support and programmes to our athletes (see here).

Our objective is to expand the club within the London, the UK and ultimately abroad – so that many undiscovered talented athletes have the opportunity to attain their true potential, and also to provide a motivational and healthy, holistically developmental outlet for the children and youth of our society.
